NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH CLINIC

About Us

Neighborhood Health Clinic began as the dream of two medical professionals over 30 years ago, and today we continue the mission of Dr. Bill and Nancy Lascheid to deliver quality medical care to low-income, working but uninsured Collier County adults, using a professional volunteer staff and funded by private philanthropy.

Our History

In the late 1990’s, Neighborhood Health Clinic was still but a dream; a medical facility designed to provide healthcare for low-income workers… and a driving passion in the hearts of Dr. Bill and Nancy Lascheid about to come to life….

Barely a few days after retiring from a successful dermatology practice and ER nursing career, they sat down around their kitchen table, pen in hand, and inscribed their vision into a mission: to deliver quality medical care to low-income, working but uninsured Collier County adults, using a professional volunteer staff, and funded by private philanthropy. Already well-known for their tireless work in the Naples community, numerous friends and peers among health professionals flocked to their inspiring cause. And on April 12, 1999, the Clinic opened its doors to the first of many patients to come.

Born of humble beginnings, the Clinic began operating in a cramped and weathered space donated by NCH Healthcare System in the now-demolished Grand Central Station commercial complex on Goodlette-Frank Road. Thanks to the generosity of contributors who donated to and advocated for the Clinic’s mission, Neighborhood Health Clinic was able to move into its current, state-of-the-art facility in 2003.

With continued support from donors and private foundations, the Clinic further expands and enhances its services on campus, including a comprehensive dental suite, a full radiology suite, as well as housing for other specialty medical services within the Armstrong Medical Building. This expansion in procedures drastically reduces the inconvenience and need for patient referrals for off-campus services. The Van Domelen Education and Wellness Building has been the most recent campus expansion project and ties together the whole concept of Healthy Lifestyles, incorporating quality medical care with education, counseling and nutrition awareness.

The continuing generosity of donors and this community has allowed the Clinic to flourish. With the ongoing support of our volunteer professionals, including physicians, dentists, nurses, translators, and other non-medical and administrative staff, Neighborhood Health Clinic continues to be the safety net of safety nets, caring for those in Collier County who have no alternative healthcare resources.
