The Guild’s annual spring Save-A-Life Luncheon was held at Royal Poinciana Club April 3, 2014 and was a tremendous success in terms of both the number of attendees and funds raised for the Clinic. Attracting 193 guests, it was the best-attended event in the Guild’s brief three-year history. For the very first time men were invited and forty brave male souls shared the afternoon with the ladies. We hope to far exceed that number at our next luncheon scheduled for February 5, 2015. The Guild’s gift to the Neighborhood Health Clinic exceeded $16,000. This money will be included in our total annual gift, which we will proudly present at our annual Welcome Back event at Nordstrom’s October 22, 2014.
Claude V. Weir, Jr. (pictured), Clinic volunteer and community philanthropist, was our speaker for the luncheon, sharing with us his determination to overcome his emotional scars from his troubled youth and to never forget what he calls “people like us.” His message was truly inspirational.
