For Country and Community
At the Neighborhood Health Clinic, we often admire the steps taken by one of our Naples’ retail stores. Displayed ever so proudly is its “Wall of Honor”. This collage of photographs is a poignant reminder of its local employees who have served, or who are serving, in the United States military. While the Neighborhood Health Clinic’s volunteers with armed services backgrounds would be reluctant to have their pictures hanging on the waiting room wall, they deserve to be recognized for their patriotism and sacrifices.
As the 4th of July approaches, an attempt to identify these NHC veterans has been made with limited success. Rather than abandon our efforts, the following volunteers are known to have served their country in the time of war and peace:
Newell R. Falkinburg, M.D. | US Air Force | 1972-1974 |
Paul Dillon | US Air Force | 1956-1960 |
Paul G. Mitchell M.D. | US Army Medical Service Corp. | 1964-1967 |
Russell P. Seneca M.D. | US Army Medical Service Corp. | 1973-1976 |
Danny Tyler | US Navy, US Army Reserve | 1971-1996 |
Gene McCree | US Navy | 1957-1966 |
Barry Zell | US Army, Army Reserve, VI Army National Guard | 1964-1971 |
William P. Lascheid, M.D. | US Navy, US Marine Corps | 1943-1952 |
Donald M Stitt | US Army Artillery Officer Candidate School, NIKE Hercules Officer School and US Army Air Defense Command | 1963 – 1966 |
Dr. Deborah Strand | US Navy, LT-03 | 1992 – 1995 |
Keith Riley, DDS | US Army | 1966 – 1968 |
Robert Wagar, M.D. | US Air Force | 1970-1975 |
James Meyer | US Army | |
Joe Cardinal | US Army | 1964 – 1966 |
Carmine P. Errico M.D. | US Army Reserves Medical Corp | 1965-1971 |
Colin Edwards | Her Majesties UK Armed Forces | 1960’s |
To these individuals and to the many more volunteers we have failed to identify, we thank you for all that you have done on behalf of your country and the sacrifices you and your families have made in doing so. On behalf of the past and present patients of NHC, thank you for continuing your selflessness and dedication as a volunteer for the well-being of the less fortunate members of our community.
