A common misconception is how the United States will look after the full implementation of Health Care Reform and will there no longer be a need for the Neighborhood Health Clinic. The answer straight and simple is – yes, there will still be a need for the Neighborhood Health Clinic and its mission of being a life-saving medical home for the working poor of our community.
Many will be surprised to learn that even after full implementation, there may be as many as 29 million people who are still without access to health insurance. There does not seem to be a balance in the Bill that reflects what’s affordable for patients. Thanksgiving is a day reserved for gathering with friends and family, slaving away in a hot kitchen, and throwing diets out the window in favor of gluttony. However, even if most/many of us associate November with turkeys and pumpkin pies, don’t forget that is also American Diabetes month. For 8.3% of the American population, ignoring their diet and failing to monitor glucose levels can lead to very serious complications. To help our diabetic patients control their diabetes and its health risks, the Clinic offers a free monthly Diabetic Self-Management class. The class gives the knowledge and tools that our patients need in order to manage their diabetes and lead happier and healthier lives.

MBA/ Masters Graduate Student in Information Systems or Database Management
The Clinic is looking for a Graduate Information Systems Fellow. This fellowship will last 12+ months and be part time (15 hours/week). The fellow will be required to assess and update the current data management systems of the Clinic, which are currently based in Access.
The fellow will then be asked to create a needs assessment and strategic plan for the future Data Management of the Clinic. The fellow will then make recommends of software migration to the Executive leadership and assist the clinic staff in this migration.

1. Making phone calls to organizations (clubs, churches, civic groups, service organizations, etc.) to generate speaking engagements.
2. Keeping a list of contacts and following up as indicated.
3. Coordinating the Speaker’s Bureau calendar.
4. Notifying the CEO and CDO and Co-Founder of the speaking engagements.
5. Calling the organization three days before the Clinic speaker arrives to confirm the date, time, directions and number of people attending.
6. Preparing promotional materials for speaker to take for the talk.
7. Providing Speaker a brief overview of the group’s focus and makeup.
