Every year the Neighborhood Health Clinic is asked to share their story with Youth Leadership Collier (YLC). On Thursday, June 21, 2012, YLC visited the Neighborhood Health Clinic as part of their six-day intensive summer program designed to give the teens a first-hand experience in different aspects of the community.
“Our visit to the Neighborhood Health Clinic is one I always look forward to for you embody the vision and spirit we can only hope to cultivate in the our students and in ourselves”, stated Patrick Philbin, volunteer chair for the Youth Leadership Collier program
The group heard from Clinic Co-Founder Nancy Lascheid. During an interactive presentation, Mrs. Lascheid asked them to find their passion and use that “fire in their belly” to improve their community. Then the YLC class was introduced to the in-take process, informed of eligibility requirements, and visited the laboratory, medication room and exam rooms.
“As we look into the eager faces of bright, talented and energetic young men and women from Collier County’s high schools we see the future for success.” states Mrs. Lascheid.
The mission of Youth Leadership Collier (YLC) is to develop ethical leaders committed to active community involvement. YLC empowers students to become effective leaders, showcase Collier County and encourage students to consider coming back to their community to begin their careers and families. YLC intends to instill the values and importance of community stewardship, helping youth to create networks and resources.
