Nina Gray being honored with 2012 Women of Initiative award

The Community Foundation of Collier County’s Women’s Philanthropic Network named Nina Gray, Chief Executive Officer at the Neighborhood Health Clinic, as a 2012 Women of Initiative award honoree. The award recognizes and celebrates Ms. Gray’s tireless efforts and diligent work for our community.

Ms. Gray association with the Neighborhood Health Clinic started as a volunteer in 1999. Over the next six (6) years her work involved outreach committee, speaker’s bureau, board member, development, co-coordinator of the volunteer program and co-chair of annual Block Party, the Clinic’s major fundraising event. In 2005 she was hired as Clinic’s first Development Officer, appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2006.

As a Naples resident since 1979, Ms. Gray not only concentrated on her professional career in the non-profit community but also focused on her volunteer efforts with local organizations. She was an original member of the three-person team hired to launch Hospice of Naples (now Avow Hospice) in 1982 and served as their executive director for five years. This was followed by eleven (11) years of working as a Florida-licensed mental health counselor and hospice consultant where her primary responsibility was as a bereavement counselor facilitating growth through myriad life losses.

“I have learned many valuable lessons working side by side with Nina during the past 12 years. She has guided me and many others through the complex world of non-for-profit management. Her leadership skills and integrity are reflected in ever task she accepts. The lesson I most cherish is understanding the true meaning of friendship. Anyone who Nina befriends is indeed blessed,” states co-founder Nancy Lascheid.

The Women of Initiative award began in 1998. Over the years several women involved with Neighborhood Health Clinic have been recognized with this prestigious award including Nancy Lascheid, Co-Founder; Deborah Russell, past Board Member; and Lynne Nordhoff, volunteer.

The annual award luncheon will be held on April 10, 2012 at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. For more information, contact Susan Utz with the Community Foundation of Collier County at 239.649.5000 or
